Overview
The ACS250 drive is part of ABB's complete micro drive range, which offers a solution for every need - drives for simple to more complex machines.
From IP20 series you can find 1-phase 110 - 120 V drives for low power applications, such as pumps, fans, grinders, mixers and conveyors, and 600 V drives with more advanced features for general purpose applications.
From IP66 series you can find a full range of products for harsh environments. IP66 drives are ideal for wash-down applications and the offering covers all the voltages from 1-phase 110 V to 3-phase 600V.
All the drives include a built-in Modbus-RTU serial communication. Intuitive keypad control and build-in macros make commissioning straightforward. IP66 enclosures are available with or without switch featuring a speed potentiometer, FWD-0.REW and power isolator. In 500 - 600 V advanced product types the additional features include e.g. CAN open interface and built-in safe-torque-off (STO) function.
ABB has retained the existing features from its predecessor, ACS250 in the ACS255 series. This means that the installers will find the external dimensions, mounting locations, parameters and other specifications familiar in the ACS255 series. Besides retaining existing features, the ACS255 also features new improvements, such as the sensorless vector control, enhanced short circuit protection and operating mode selection.
Technicians will be aided by the intuitive control panel with LED display when configuring and commissioning the ACS255 series of microdrives. Setting up the ACS255 microdrive is an easy process as it only involves necessary parameter and built-in macros. The ACS255 can also be integrated with existing control and monitoring systems via the built-in Modbus-RTU serial communication.
Installing the ACS255 series is hassle-free as there are no accessories required for mounting the unit. The drive is designed to be compact and can be mounted easily. Configuring multiple units of ACS255 is aided with the copy stick tool, which transfers setup parameters between multiple units effortlessly.

The ACS255 microdrive features an embedded Modbus RTU using standard RS485 interface. This allows the drive to be controlled and monitored remotely. The drive allocates an RJ45 port where multiple units can be linked in a daisy-chain connection. The port also functions as an access slot for the copy tool used in transferring parameters between drives manually.
2. ACS255-03U-04A3-2+B068+F278 ACS255 Series Heat Dissipation
ACS255 microdrives that are fitted in IP20 enclosures are designed with thermal dissipating features. Drives that are below 1HP relies on natural convection for dissipating excessive heat. Heatsink and cooling fan is fitted on IP20 ACS255 drives that are rated 1HP and above. System installers must ensure that the surrounding air does not exceed 40°C and is free from corrosive substances to provide effective heat dissipation.

A keypad and display are built onto the ACS255 drive to facilitate configuring and commissioning. Parameter setup is standardized to ABB common programming structure for optimal efficiency. There is also an optional remote keypad that serves the same purpose of setting up the drive.
