Overview
The ACS310 is a general purpose drive built for variable torque applications. System integrators will find the ACS 310 useful for booster pumps and centrifugal fans. It has a built-in PID controller, pump and fan control that will optimize the drive’s output by the feedback it received from external data like flow and pressure.
Maintenance personnel will also benefit from the preprogrammed features in the ACS310, such as the multiple pump control, pipe-clean and fill control. These features can prove helpful when scheduling for preventive maintenance.
Energy efficiency is also one of the highlights of the ACS310 drive. Reduced CO2 emission, or and the energy saved in kilowatt-hour can be monitored from the built-in energy-saving calculator. For finance executives, these savings can also be expressed in the local currencies. It certainly assist in justifying the return of investment in installing the ACS310.
The ACS310 drive goes beyond reporting the amount of energy saved. The drive is built with intelligent energy optimizer that reduces the power used while operating at partial load. The drive’s algorithm is also smart enough to reduce the nose and energy losses of the internal fan.

ACS310-01U-06A7-2+J400 ACS310 Communication
The ACS310 is built with an embedded Modbus EIA-485 interface that supports half-duplex standard Modbus protocol. It can be configured to communicate in EIA-485 which has the maximum specified range of 4,000 ft, or the RS232, with a short range of 3 meters. In the EIA-485 mode, the ACS310 is configured as a slave and can be part of a network of other EIA-485 devices.
ACS310-01U-06A7-2+J400 ACS310 Startup Sequence
There are 3 different way to startup the ACS310 after it is being installed.
- Manual startup without a control panel
- Basic startup with a control panel
- Guided startup with an Assistant control panel.
The manual startup requires the technician to follow closely to the instructions in the guide, while the Assistant guided startup provides the necessary steps through the control panel.

While the ACS310 is robust and requires little maintenance when operated in its recommended environment, ABB suggests that the following maintenance is done to prolong its lifespan.
- Reforming of capacitors (Every year when stored)
- Check of dustiness, corrosion and temperature ( Every year )
- Replacement of the cooling fan ( Every three years)
- Check and tightening of the power terminals ( Every six years)
- Replacement of the battery in the Assistant control panel ( Every ten years)
