The J1000 series variable frequency drive, developed by Yaskawa, is an ideal solution for systems that demand compactness and reliability. The drive supports electric motors rated between 1/8 to 7.5 HP. It controls the motor speed with the open-loop V/F control.
With the J1000 series VFD, system reliability is increased. The drive has an MTBF of 28 years, which means there’s little risk of operational failure. This is due to the ingenious design, which reduces the number of mechanical parts. The VFD is also engineered with increased vibration resistance.
The J1000 series VFD features a starting torque of 150% at 3Hz. It’s sufficient to drive motors in applications like conveyors, pumps, fans, and industrial washers. If there’s a need, the drive can be operated in the heavy-duty mode, where it could withstand 150% of rated current for up to 60 seconds.
It’s easy to configure and commission the J1000 series VFD. It has an interactive LCD panel that facilitates parameter setup. Instead of setting up the drive from scratch, users can use the pre-defined parameters to cut short setup time.
Maintenance of the J1000 series is also made easy with a few handy features. Technicians can replace the cooling fan without any tools. The drive also has a pre-maintenance function which provides indications for changing the cooling fan, capacitor, and IGBT.

Multiple units of J1000 series VFD can be mounted side by side, with only 30 mm minimum spacing. This is possible as the drive is built with a patented hybrid heatsink. It allows optimum heat dissipation despite the close proximity in installation.
2. One-Touch Copy Function
The J1000 series VFD has a one-touch copy function that allows parameter transfer between units. Installers can duplicate the parameters by connecting two VFDs through the RS232C port. Alternatively, parameters can be copied to the PC via USB, before transferring to other units.
3. Modbus RTU Option
With the RS-485 communication interface option, the J1000 series drive can be turned into a Modbus RTU. It’s helpful for remote monitoring when the system involves multiple drives installations.
4. Swing PWM For Motor Noise Reduction
Driving motor at low career frequencies may result in audible noises. The J1000 series has a special Swing PWM option, which uses a special PWM pattern on the 2kHz carrier frequency to minimize noise.
