Overview
System integrators browsing for a compact frequency inverters would find the SCM series offered by Lenze an ideal choice. It is contained in a compact IP20 enclosure and fits for applications that require variable speed, soft starting or reversing operation. The frequency inverter can be with dynamic braking resistors to implement fast stopping or deceleration features.
The SCM series frequency inverters consist of various models that support output power between ⅓ HP to 15 HP. This offers a great range of options for system integrators that are replacing faulty inverters or installing one in a new equipment.
Technicians performing installations on SCM series frequency inverters will find the terminal connections arranged systematically. Connections to the start/stop button, analog input, and the digital input/output can be performed easily, thanks to the clearly assigned terminals. The inverter also has high voltage terminals designated for input power, DC bus, and output motor control.
Configuring and commissioning the SCM series frequency inverters is are also a relatively easy affair with the programming buttons, 3 digits LED display and the Electronic Programming Module (EPM). The buttons and LED display allows modifying the configuration values of the frequency inverter. System installer can also use the EPM to reduce the programming time.
Any fault that occurs during the operation of the SCM series units will be reflected as error codes in the LED display. This allows the respective personnel to perform remedial actions based on the nature of the faults that occur.
The SCM Series at a glance:
- Output power: 1/3 HP to 15 HP (0.25 to 11 kW).
- Supports dynamic braking option
- Connections: start/stop, analog input, digital inputs and outputs (3/1)
- IP20 enclosure
- Configuration with button and LED display or Electronic Programming Module.

SM275 SCM Series Features
1. SM275 SCM Series Motor Overload Protection
The SCM Series frequency inverters are built in with UL-approved solid-state overload protection. This eliminates the need for an external protection of thermal relay circuit for the single motor application. The drive will enter an overload fault state when the drive current hits 150% of the output capacity for one minute.
2. SM275 SCM Series Electronic Programming Module (EPM)
The Electronic Programming Module or EPM offers a time-saving solution in configuring the SCM series frequency inverters. The downtime when replacing a frequency inverter is minimal, as the EPM can be transferred to the new unit to operate immediately. The configuration stored in an EPM can also be duplicated to other EPMs.
3. SM275 SCM Series DC Braking
The DC Braking option can be configured on the SCM series frequency inverter. Installers can set the duration of the DC Braking voltage applied and the magnitude of the voltage itself. The conditions of when the DC Braking is activated can also be configured by choosing either COAST WITH DC BRAKE or RAMP WITH DC BRAKE.
