Unless your servo motor repair project is an emergency, the repair cost will be quoted before any work is done. If you want to send something to Precision Electric for quote/repair please email me and request an RMA form, include the RMA with equipment when you send it in.

While we’re test-running your servo motor, we’ll make sure it runs smoothly and that no vibration is detected. The shaft run-out, endplay, and radial play also are checked with a dial indicator and the results are documented.

The following are a list of our general procedures for servo motor repair:

  • testing stator windings and the feedback device
  • test-running the servo motor and documenting RPMs, volts, and AMPs for comparison after the motor has been repaired
  • checking the counter EMF or BEMF
  • testing the holding brake
  • disassembling the motor
  • cleaning and/or sandblasting, then inspecting all parts and components individually
  • washing and baking the stator or rewind stator
  • testing stator windings again
  • checking end frames and machine end frames, if applicable
    replacing bearings
  • checking rotor security to shaft and balancing rotor, if applicable
  • inspecting o-rings, gaskets, and seals and replacing them, if needed
  • assembling the motor, including installing and aligning the feedback device or devices
  • test-running the servo motor, documenting RPMs, volts, and AMPs, checking endplay, radial play, and runout
  • painting the servo motor

 

All of Precision Electric repair services includes a twelve month in-service warranty. Precision Electric is one of the only outfits who offers the in-service warranty. Our in-service warranty period starts at the time equipment is put into service, and ends 12 months later.
