Description

The ACS550 is designed for system integrators looking for an industrial AC drive that would result in massive energy savings. The AC drive by ABB is both simple in design and yet fits various industrial applications. It can be integrated easily to both variable and constant torque applications and has been successfully used in industries like plastic extrusion or large-scale farming. Programming the ACS550 is often a simple process as system integrators can on the software tools provided by ABB. The tools provide a comprehensive guide for technical personnel who are tasked to install and program the drives to support team who are in charge of maintaining and supervising the operations of the system. ABB an industry leader that recognizes the importance of inter-connectivities for its range of AC drives. As such, you’ll find the ACS550 fitted with numerous communication interface to ensure the ease of data collection and remote monitoring. An optional Fieldbus adapter allows the ACS550 to integrate into networks of standard protocols including Profibus, Modbus, CANopen, DeviceNet, and ControlNet. While the ACS550 is designed to operate in a robust environment, relevant features are included to support troubleshooting and maintenance of the drives. A display panel and status LEDs will reflect the corresponding error code to assist technicians in troubleshooting. Physical installation of the ACS550 is also an uncomplicated plug and play process and guided with an installation manual provided by ABB. It helps technicians to ensure the correct wire terminations, securely mounting the drive and running through a pre-check list before commissioning the system.

ACS550-U1-059A-2 Maintenance Schedules For ACS550

The ACS550 is generally very robust and requires little maintenance effort. To ensure it continues to operate reliably, ABB suggested a maintenance schedule as follows.
  • Heatsink temperature check and cleaning : Depends on the dustiness of the environment (every 6…12 months)
  • Main cooling fan replacement : Every six years
  • Internal enclosure cooling fan replacement (IP54 / UL type 12 drives) : Every three years
  • Capacitor reforming : Every year when stored
  • Capacitor replacement (frame sizes R5 and R6) : Every nine years
  • Replace battery in the Assistant Control Panel : Every ten years
