Overview
ABB’s ACS580 series are general purpose drives designed to provide optimal energy efficiency for lightweight applications. The drives are engineered to work with compressors, mixers, pumps, fans, and various variable or constant torque systems between 0.75 to 500kW. The ACS580 series drives are built to last in harsh industrial environments. They feature coated PCBs, robust enclosure, and motor temperature monitoring to ensure the parameters are within tolerated range at all times. Each of the drives went through stringent tests in production to ensure maximum field reliability.
Installers will have their jobs simplified with the features-rich ACS580 series. The drive has all the necessary features built-in and is fitted with an LCD panel. Configuration and commissioning are done with ease with the intuitive programming menu. There’s also a help button that provides instant clarification.
The ease of programming the ACS580 series drives is extended by the DriveComposer software. Installers can use the PC to configure and monitor the drives via the USB port. Alternatively, the drive can be upgraded with a Bluetooth panel, which allows wireless configuration.
There’s also the flexibility of adding in the I/O or Fieldbus adapter to a ACS580 series drive on the two additional slots. 1. ACS580-01-271A-6 Energy Efficiency Function
The ACS580 series drive has an energy function, which is accessible from the programming menu. The function, along with the EnergySave tool, helps users to estimate and monitor energy savings in the system. Users can leverage the function to plan and reduce energy usage and save unnecessary expenses.
2. ACS580-01-271A-6 Temperature Monitoring and Protection
PTC and PT100 sensors can be directly connected to the ACS580 series drive. This enables temperature monitoring for motors and alerts the system when limits are breached. It prevents the motors from being overheated. Data from the temperature sensor is viewable on a graph, which is useful for analysis.
3. ACS580-01-271A-6 Remote Monitoring
With the Profibus module, an ACS580 series drive can be configured as a remote monitoring unit. Parameters like load levels, runtime, energy consumption, I/O data, and motor temperatures can be configured and monitored remotely at a centralized server.
